How We Are Worshiping Together In the Midst of a Pandemic

Donate to Our Mission

Our church community endeavors to accept and embrace all who enter here. We welcome individuals of every race, ethnicity, nationality,  gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, family structure, marital standing, socio-economic status, age, physical and mental ability to join us in the ministry of our church. All are invited to participate in worship, fellowship, and leadership

**Update as of May 17th, 2022**
In response to the realities of the on-going pandemic in our state, here is how we plan to gather for worship for the foreseeable future:

Beloveds in Christ,

In response to changes in the CDC's recommendations around mitigations as well as in recognizing the need for more flexible and responsive mitigation strategies, the church council voted to adopt a tiered mitigation strategy where we will adapt our mitigations for in-person worship on a weekly basis based on the level of community transmission as described on the CDC website. The chair of the deacons and I will consult the CDC website on Thursday and see how covid transmission looks in Kennebec county (low, medium, substantial, or high). We'll share what mitigation level (green, yellow, or red) we are at in the Thursday Newsy Note and also on signage that will be clearly marked in the sanctuary when people arrive. We will also be continuing to offer zoom worship for the foreseeable future.

The Mitigation Levels are:
  • Green- Low Transmission- Masking optional, groups are welcome to meet in person, we'll share meals in the church fellowship hall
  • Yellow- Medium and Substantial Transmission- Masking required for all people inside the building, groups/boards will still be welcome to meet in-person, we will not share food inside the building
  • Red- High Transmission-
    • Universal masking of highest quality mask within the building (KN-95, N-95, Double masking, 3 layer procedure mask)- The church will have masks available for those who arrive without them.
    • Pew Distancing encouraged- one family unit/bubble per one half of the pew, don’t sit directly behind someone.
    • Groups are encouraged to make use of remote meeting when reasonable and make use of hybrid meetings (using zoom and in-person) particularly if meeting on Sunday after church
    • Meet outside weather permitting
    • Food can be shared outside (including hospitality and receptions after funerals and weddings, but no eating together in the building)
Keep an eye out for Thursday's Newsy Note where we will share our mitigations for each Sunday.

If you would like to join worship on zoom, continue to use the zoom link for worship that we send out in Newsy Notes. If you need it, please email me or at pastorchrissywcc@gmail.com or call the church office.
